Briscoe announced for Longhorn City Limits on April 15
AUSTIN, TEXAS – Following the conclusion of the Texas Football Orange-White Game presented by Texas One Fund on April 15, rising artist Briscoe will perform at Longhorn City Limits presented by Still Austin Whiskey. The FREE gameday concert series, located on the LBJ Lawn, will feature live music starting at 10 a.m. culminating with a headline set by Briscoe at approximately 3 p.m.
As part of ‘Made in Austin’ Weekend, Texas Athletics is excited to welcome Briscoe, the Austin-based project of Truett Heintzelman and Philip Lupton, to the LCL stage. Formed at the University of Texas, the pair released a self-titled EP and are currently working on their forthcoming Debut album by Grammy Nominated Producer Brad Cook (Bon Iver, The War on Drugs, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Waxahatchee).
The band recently supported Noah Kahan on some dates throughout the midwest and is supporting Ruston Kelly on his upcoming tour later this month. At home the band sold out their biggest headline show to date at the iconic Antone’s Nightclub and a string of eight residency shows at Austin’s legendary C-Boys and The Continental Club Gallery.
The band had the opportunity to support CAAMP and Zach Bryan and recently performed at Innings Festival alongside Dave Matthews Band and The Avett Brothers. Briscoe will also feature at quintessential Summer festivals this year including Bonnaroo, Sound on Sound, Catbird and Wonderbus.
Briscoe draws musical influence from what many consider the golden years of music, the late 1960s to mid 1970s. Artists such as Neil Young, James Taylor, The Grateful Dead, The Beatles, Carole King, and Paul Simon have influenced the pair musically and lyrically. With a variety of instrumentation, Briscoe’s live shows and studio recordings seem to stray in and out of genres, but consistently showcase meaningful songwriting and unique melodies.
“What better way to celebrate Made in Austin Weekend than to have a band not only from Austin but one who was founded at the University of Texas in Briscoe.” said Drew Martin, Executive Senior Associate Athletics Director. “We’re so excited to see them take the LCL stage on April 15!”
Additional artists for April 15 will be announced at a later date.
