Baseball Hits the Big Apple for Series Against Columbia


Princeton, N.J. — Princeton hits the road to continue Ivy League play as it visits Columbia this weekend. The Tigers and Lions will square off with a doubleheader starting on Saturday, April 2 at 11:30 a.m. The series will wrap up on Sunday at noon.
 
Princeton enters the series 2-16 and 0-3 in Ivy play after its home-opening series against Yale. Columbia comes in at 7-13 and 1-2 in conference play.
 
The Tigers are having no trouble at the plate and average 9.4 runs per game in their last two series. They rank second in the Ivy League with 177 hits. Princeton’s 23 home runs are also the most among the Ancient Eight teams.
 
Leading that Princeton offense are Nadir Lewis, Jackson Emus, and Brendan Cumming. Lewis ranks second in the Ivy League with a .422 batting average and Is followed by Jackson Emus who is third with a .419 average and Cumming who ranks fourth with a .390 average. The trio have all received conference honors this season with Lewis and Cumming taking home Ivy League Player of the week for the weeks of March 14 and March 21, respectively. Emus was named Ivy League Pitcher of the Week on March 7.

Matt Scannell and Eric Marasheski are starting to hit their stride as well. In three starts against Yale, Scannell went 6-for-11 with a home run, four RBI, and a run scored. In one start and a pinch-hit appearance, Marasheski went 3-for-5 with a home run, an RBI, and two runs scored.
