Women’s Tennis Heads to Penn for Cissie Leary Invitational
ITHACA, N.Y. – Originally scheduled for earlier in the fall season, the Cornell women’s tennis team travels to Philadelphia, Pa. this weekend to play in Penn’s Cissie Leary Invitational. Play at the Hamlin and Hecht Tennis Centers runs from Friday, Oct. 22 through Sunday, Oct. 24.
In action for the Big Red will be seniors Khary Pryce, Katherine Nguyen, Valerie Ho and Maria Adiaconitei, as well as junior Fatima El Ashram, sophomore Jenny Wong, sophomore Lauren Stein, and freshman Alexandra Savu, Lan Mi and Seychelle Balog.
Mi, Adiaconitei and Stein recently played at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Super Regional, where Mi reached the round of 16 in singles and the doubles pairing of Adiaconitei and Stein reached the quarterfinals.
Wong last played at the ITA Northeast Regional, while Balog, El Ashram, Nguyen, Pryce, Savu last played at the Columbia Invitational in mid-September. Ho will make her season debut for the Big Red this weekend.
Cornell last played at the Cissie Leary Invitational in 2018, where then freshmen Adiaconitei and Ho took second in flight ‘A’ doubles.
