Greg Hamilton ’88 has been named the Robert L. Peters’ 42 Award winner, the Princeton Baseball team has announced.

The Peters’ Award is awarded annually at the Reunions alumni baseball game to an alumnus who has made significant contributions to the game of baseball at any level following his graduation or having played baseball at Princeton, has distinguished himself after graduation in his chosen field of endeavor. Established by the Friends of Princeton Baseball in 1984 in honor of Bob Peters, who has provided inspiration to generations of Princeton student-athletes through his example as a gentleman, leader, patriot and competitor.

Hamilton now works with Baseball Canada with their Junior National Program. In his role, Hamilton has led the Junior National Team program to two WBSC U18 Baseball World Cup bronze medals and one silver. He has also put together national team squads that have won three Pan Am Games medals (Gold ’11, Gold ’15, Silver ’19), competed at two Olympic Games (’04, ’08) and all four World Baseball Classic events.

President and CEO of the Toronto Blue Jays Mark Shapiro shared some words on why Hamilton should be the recipient of the Peters’ Award.

“It is hard to consider that anyone has impacted baseball in Canada more than Greg. His tireless efforts to grow the game and foster a competitive landscape where Canada’s best players can thrive and build a major league foundation is evident across the MLB landscape.  Best of all, Greg has built that foundation upon a career of selfless dedication to lifting others and his consistent display of elite character.  Multiple generations of Canadian baseball players owe their careers to his efforts, and their support of him is palpable in any setting where baseball is played competitively in Canada.”
