Winner of USA Today, SEC All-Sports title is a newcomer to the league

When it comes to all-around sports excellence in the SEC, nobody messes with Texas.
The Texas Longhorns won the 2024-25 USA Today Network SEC All-Sports Title, ending Tennessee’s three-year reign as the top overall athletic program in the conference.
Texas and Oklahoma joined the SEC on July 1, 2024, expanding the conference to 16 teams and bringing more competitiveness in both men’s and women’s sports throughout the league.
The champion is determined based on a points system devised by the USA Today Network that rewards the highest points total based on the number of teams per sport competing for conference regular season championships. For example, Texas received 16 points for winning the SEC regular season baseball title, 15.5 points for earning SEC women’s basketball (co-championship honors with South Carolina), 15 points for winning the SEC men’s tennis championship, 13 points for winning the SEC women’s swim and dive championship and 11 points for winning the SEC men’s swim and dive championship.
The Longhorns also scored highly in football (15 points as SEC runner-up to Georgia), volleyball (15 as SEC runner-up to Kentucky) and softball (13 points as the SEC’s third-place team behind Oklahoma and Texas A&M). Texas won first place in both the men’s and women’s divisions.
“We aspire for excellence in every one of our sports’ programs and are incredibly proud of how all our teams handled the move to Southeastern Conference this year,” said University of Texas Vice President and Lois and Richard Folger Athletics Director Chris Del Conte. “It’s a testament to their hard work, grit, determination, and Texas Fight that we had so much success across the board. To be recognized as the best all-sports program in the SEC speaks volumes for who we are, how we compete and the phenomenal people we have wearing the burnt orange and white.”
