Yee, Shatzman Lead #9 Women’s Squash to Victory Over #10 Drexel
PHILADELPHIA — Sophomore Xin Ying Yee improved to 7-0 on the season and junior Devon Shatzman won her season debut as the No. 9-ranked Cornell women’s squash team (5-2) posted a 6-3 victory over No. 10-ranked Drexel (5-4) on Wednesday afternoon at the Klein & Specter Squash Center.
Yee defeated Moa Bonnemark, 11-9, 11-8, 11-5, at the No. 1 position and Shatzman cruised past Claudia Adam, 11-7, 11-3, 11-5, en route to being the lone pair of Cornell players to register three-game victories.
Junior Aishwarya Khubchandani (No. 2) and sophomore Christa Kay (No. 5) each posted wins in four games for Cornell, while junior Alysa Ali (No. 4) and Saniya Jaggi (No. 7) both prevailed in five games.
Jaggi came back from a 2-1 deficit with 13-11 and 11-5 victories in the fourth and fifth games to defeat Lijana Sultana. Ali and Emilia Falconi alternated victories, 11-9, 8-11, 11-7, 6-11, 11-5, throughout the five-game match.
Junior Ananya Dabke (No. 3), sophomore Maya Voloshin (No. 6), and freshman Kahjin Yap (No. 8) all fall in four games.

Cornell will remain in the Philadelphia area for its next two matches as the Big Red will face a pair of Ivy League opponents in No. 4-ranked Princeton (5-0, 1-0 Ivy League) and No. 3-ranked Penn (8-1, 1-0 Ivy League) on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
Friday’s match with the Tigers is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start at the Tigers’ brand-new squash facility in Princeton’s Meadows neighborhood. Match action will be broadcast live on Stretch Internet. Saturday’s contest with Penn is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
