Baseball’s Stark Set to Become Head Coach at Tufts University

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard University baseball associate head coach/recruiting coordinator Bryan Stark is set to become the head baseball coach at Tufts University after spending the last 10 seasons with the Crimson, Tufts announced on Monday.

“I am excited for Bryan and his family to have this opportunity at Tufts,” Bill Decker, The Joseph J. O’Donnell Head Coach for Harvard Baseball said. “He is clearly ready to lead a program that through the years has excelled. I am forever grateful for all Bryan provided to the student-athletes and baseball program during his time on O’Donnell Field and beyond. Bryan is extremely passionate about the overall experience of young adults, and he will continue to flourish as a mentor to many as he joins the Jumbo Family. He has clearly left a positive impression for our program, and we will miss him dearly as a colleague and friend.”

Stark joined the Crimson as an assistant coach in the fall of 2014 and earned a promotion to associate head coach in the summer of 2019, spending 10 seasons with the Crimson from 2015-24. During his tenure, Stark helped the Crimson total 38 All-Ivy selections, including 14 on the first team, 16 on the second team, and 12 honorable mention picks. In the classroom, Stark mentored 23 Academic All-District selections and 11 Academic All-Ivy choices. While at Harvard, Stark coached 12 MLB Draft picks.

“I am forever grateful for my time at Harvard,” Stark said. “It has been an absolute privilege to represent Harvard University which truly is one of the finest academic and athletic institutions in the country. I want to thank Coach Decker and the entire Harvard administration for all of their support during my time here. I am particularly indebted to Coach Decker. My relationship with him over the last 10 years has brought great meaning to my life, and I hope to emulate him as I begin to lead my own program.”

“I want to thank all of our student-athletes for their tireless work ethic and dedication to our baseball program,” Stark said. “Their accomplishments on and off the field are something I will cherish for the rest of my life. To the entire Harvard family and community, thank you for welcoming and allowing me to grow.”

Stark helped the Crimson win the 2019 Ivy League title and earn an appearance in the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2005. He helped Jake Suddleson ’20 earn Ivy League Player of the Year in 2019, Noah Zavolas ’18 take Ivy League Pitcher of the Year in 2018, and Callan Fang ’26 garner Ivy League Rookie of the Year in 2023 and Ivy League Pitcher of the Year in 2024.

Prior to Harvard, Stark served as an assistant coach at Navy (2013-14), the University of Rochester (2012), and SUNY Oswego (2011). Stark graduated from SUNY Oswego in 2010, playing baseball for four seasons and captaining the team in his final two years.

The Crimson will commence a search for Stark’s replacement immediately.
