NEW YORK – The Princeton Baseball Team took down the Columbia Lions, 4-2, at Robertson Field on Friday afternoon.

Jake Koonin’s RBI double got the scoring started in the second inning.

Koonin is the third player in three years for Princeton to record a 15-game hitting streak, joining Brendan Cumming in 2022 and Scott Bandura in 2023.

In the fifth, Jacob Faulkner ended the Columbia half of the inning, starting this 1-6-3 double play.

Matt Scannell blasted this long home run in the sixth stanza.

With two out in the sixth, Jake Bold lined a triple that scored Caden Shapiro. He would later score on a RBI knock from Koonin.

Jacob Faulkner was outstanding as he came in the third inning for Will Sword, retiring 13 of the first 16 hitters he faced. The Lions did not get a runner in scoring position until the ninth inning when Jack Cooper hit a two-run home run. With two out in the ninth, the home team brought the winning run to the plate, but a flyout end the game.
.
With Dartmouth’s victory earlier in the day over Penn, the Tigers clinched a spot in the Ivy League Tournament for the second straight season. Princeton can clinch the No. 2 seed in the tournament with one more victory over Columbia.

Bold and Koonin combined for five hits in the win.

These two Ivy foes will play a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 11:30 a.m.
