Sailing Closes March With Pair of Team Race Finishes
ITHACA, N.Y. — The Cornell sailing team continued its spring team racing season with a fourth-place finish at Navy’s Jen Harris Team Race to highlight the weekend. The Big Red was also 19th at the Admiral Moore Open Team Race at Kings Point.
Cornell made the final four at Navy. finishing 4-6 to place behind Tulane (9-1), Dartmouth (8-2) and Penn (6-4). The Big Red’s four wins were one better than Charleston to make the finals.
The B ig Red picked up victories over Georgetown, George Washington and Navy, as well as handing the Big Green one of its two round robin losses. Bridget Green, Meredith Moran and J.J Smith skippered Big Red entries, with Gabbi DelBello, Sophia Pearce, Sophia Fogarty, Amelia Neumann and Sophia Mulvania as crew.
At Kings Point, the Big Red’s open team was 10th with a 1-11 record. Jack Merrill, Aidan Lane and Sophia Devling were skippers over the two-day event, with Adler Weber, Clara Hewson, Isabel Dhar and Peter Jordan serving as crew. The Big Red’s lone win of the weekend was a 2-3-5 finish against the Merchant Marine Academy in round one.
