Baseball Dropped by Dartmouth in Series Finale

Hanover, N.H. — Princeton was defeated by Dartmouth in Sunday’s series finale, 16-7.

Eric Marasheski and Nick DiPietrantonio were bright spots in the Tigers lineup today. Marasheski went 4-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. DiPietrantonio went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.

Matt Scannell also chipped in a pair of RBI. He’s now up to 27 on the season—the second-most by a Princeton player.

Dartmouth Opened the scoring in the bottom of the first then extended its lead with four more  in the third to make it a 5-0 ballgame. A fielding error allowed the Big Green to plate its sixth runner of the game in the fourth inning.

Princeton got on the board in the fifth courtesy of an RBI single from Marasheski, but Dartmouth responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning to make it 8-1.

The Tigers halved the deficit in the sixth inning with RBI singles from DiPietrantonio, Carlos Abello, and Marasheski. A two-run double by Scannell further cut the deficit to make it 8-6 through six and a half.

This would be as close as the Tigers got, however. Dartmouth outscored Princeton 8-1 from the bottom of the seventh to the final frame for a 16-7 victory.
