Heavyweight Rowing Takes Second In Race For the Goes Trophy
ANNAPOLIS, Md. — The Cornell heavyweight rowing team took second in the race for the Goes Trophy, as the varsity eight crossed the 2,000-meter finish line in 5:35.88.
Syracuse took first, marking a 5:30.90 with the Big Red second and Navy (5:39.00) bringing up the rear. The Orange grabbed both the Goes Trophy for capturing the varsity race and the Stagg Cup for victories in the top three races to claim the team points title.
Cornell finished third in the second and third varsity races, while the Big Red edged out Syracuse in the fourth varsity race by just .22 seconds (5:49.44-5:49.66).
The Big Red will head to New Haven, Conn. to compete for the Carnegie Cup Regatta against Princeton and Yale on Saturday, April 23.
