Defensive player of the week: Montel Barree | DL | Jr. | Dallas
Montel Barree spearheaded Texas College to its first victory of the season 24-12 over Southwestern Assemblies of God on Saturday in Tyler, Texas. Barre, a 6-foot-2, 285-pound defensive lineman, recorded season bests with six solo tackles and three sacks while making nine tackles overall, a pass broken up and 4½ tackles for loss. Barre rates ninth in the NAIA with 2.0 tackles for loss per game. He tops the Steers with 56 tackles and seven sacks to go with 22 solo stops this year.
