The University of Houston is a leader in cybersecurity education, and UH experts are nationally recognized in the field. UH is one of only three universities in Texas with dual designation by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security for its educational and research programs in cybersecurity and cyber defense.

Art Conklin, associate professor of information and logistics technology and director of the Center for Information Security Research and Education, is the author of six books associated with information security. Conklin is principal investigator for a $1.1 million federal grant to improve security for critical energy infrastructure. He has expertise in security for critical infrastructure, with previous work involving water, utilities and oil and gas delivery. Chris Bronk, assistant professor of computer and information systems, is associate director of the Center for Information Security Research and Education.
