Five Big Red Softball Players Earn All-Ivy Honors
ITHACA, N.Y. – Five Cornell softball players earn all-conference honors the Ivy League announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Ella Harrod, Sydney Stapf and Hailey Pirkey were named to the second team with Lauren Holt and Emma Harshberger securing honorable mention recognition.
Harrod started all 38 games at shortstop for the Big Red, recording 84 assists and 65 putouts over the season recording a career-high six assist against Penn on April 18. In the lineup, she batted in the two spot and led the team with a .333 average across 129 at-bats. Harrod also topped the roster in hits with 43, including five doubles.
Starting every game in left field, Stapf recorded 59 putouts on fly balls. At the plate, she posted a .293 batting average and a .439 slugging percentage. In her junior season, she tallied six doubles, three home runs, and drove in 21 runs. Stapf hit a grand slam and two doubles on March 7 against Holy Cross to drive in a team-high eight RBIs in the single game.
With 91 at-bats, Pirkey was a rock in the Cornell lineup as a designated player. As a sophomore, She was second on the team in batting average (.330), slugging percentage (.473) and doubles (7). Pirkey recorded a home run and a double in the final Ivy League series against Harvard.
Holt led the team in five statistical categories: slugging percentage (.649), walks drawn (26), runs scored (23), RBIs (30), and home runs (9), while spending the majority of the season in the cleanup spot. Her nine home runs ranked second in the Ivy League. Defensively, she was also a standout behind the plate, throwing out 10 would-be base stealers, the second-highest total in the conference. The junior had two multi home run games this season, one against Yale and the other against Dartmouth.
The freshman made an immediate impact in her first season on the East Hill. Harshberger started in all 38 games at first base and in the top three of the lineup. She led all rookies in toughest to strike out with only five strikeouts over the entire season. Over 119 at-bats, she batted .319 recording five doubles, two home runs and 19 RBIs resulting in a .405 slugging percentage. In the field, Harshberger recorded 249 putouts only committing four errors on the corner and contributing to 11 double plays.
Stapf also received recognition as Cornell’s representative for the 2025 Academic All-Ivy Team.
