Purdue Global, Strada Education Foundation partner to increase career tools and outreach for adult learners
Labor market data can help students learn about career paths and skills needed to advance in their field
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — A new grant from the Strada Education Foundation will help Purdue Global faculty and staff provide additional career guidance to working adult learners at the online institution.
The one-year grant from Strada, an Indianapolis-based foundation that works to strengthen the connection between education and opportunity, will allow Purdue Global to provide additional labor market data including job placements, labor market demand and earnings information to working adult learners enrolled in three degree and certificate programs.
According to Jennifer Lasater, Purdue Global’s vice president of student and career advancement, placing labor market data into course curricula helps students understand in greater detail the career field they are exploring.
“Our goal at Purdue Global is to equip students with the information they need to be successful in their future career goals and outcomes,” Lasater said. “This data can assist them in future job searches, helping them understand the various job titles, salary ranges and necessary skills associated with the roles they are looking for. This is another tool to prepare them for their academic goals tied to potential new career paths.”
About 1,000 students in the Associate of Applied Science in legal support and services, Associate of Applied Science in business administration, and medical billing and coding certificate programs will participate in the pilot program starting in July 2025 with the goal of bringing these interactions with labor market data to all students during their time at Purdue Global.
“We want students to be educated about their career paths and know more about the field, industry jobs and careers they are exploring,” said Jon Harbor, interim chancellor of Purdue Global. “Partnering with Strada intensifies our innovative efforts for student success and teaching working adult learners about their respective industries and the skills needed to thrive.”
