Baseball’s Cooper Elected as Team Captain for 2025 Season
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard University baseball senior George Cooper will serve the Crimson as a captain for the 2025 season following a vote of the team’s student-athletes, Bill Decker, The Joseph J. O’Donnell ’67 Head Coach for Harvard Baseball, has announced.
For his career, Cooper has played in 107 games with 103 starts, hitting .303 with 78 runs, 135 hits, 26 doubles, seven triples, six home runs, and 55 RBIs. A two-time All-Ivy selection, Cooper has posted a .342 OBP and .434 slugging percentage over his career.
As a junior in 2024, Cooper played in 38 games with 35 starts, hitting .296 on the year with 26 runs, 47 hits, five doubles, three triples, two homers, and a .335 OBP. He started all 21 games in Ivy League play, hitting .326 with 16 runs, 31 hits, and 14 RBIs in conference play.
A native of Los Angles, Calif., Cooper earned First Team All-Ivy and First Team All-New England accolades as a sophomore in 2023. He played in 34 games with 33 starts, leading the team in average (.333) and ranking second in doubles (13). During Ivy play, Cooper ranked sixth in the conference in average (.361).
In his rookie season in 2022, Cooper gained Second Team All-Ivy while playing in and starting 35 games. He hit .287 on the year with 27 runs, 43 hits, eight doubles, three triples, three homers, and 15 RBIs. In Ivy play, he tallied a .314 batting average.
