Diving’s Matt Scoggin named to coaching staff for Team USA
AUSTIN, Texas — University of Texas Head Diving Coach Matt Scoggin has been named to the U.S. Olympic Diving Team coaching staff for the 2024 Paris Olympics, USA Diving announced recently. The Paris Olympic Games diving competition is scheduled for July 27-August 10 at the Aquatics Center in Saint Denis.
This will mark the fifth Olympiad that Scoggin will serve in a coaching role with Team USA, as he previously worked in 2000 (Sydney), 2008 (Beijing), 2012 (London) and 2020 (Tokyo). Scoggin also was a member of the 1992 U.S. Olympic Diving team.
Drew Johansen was named the head coach for Team USA in Paris, while Wenbo Chen will serve as the assistant coach. In addition to Johansen and Chen, five individuals will travel to Paris with USA Diving as additional coaching staff members, including Scoggin, David Boudia, Dwight Dumais, Jenny Johansen and John Wingfield.
During the recent U.S. Olympic Trials – Diving, former Longhorn star Alison Gibson qualified for Team USA in the Women’s 3-meter Springboard.
