Men’s Basketball Puts Final Prep In For Ivy Tournament

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — The Cornell men’s basketball team went through its pre-Ivy League Tournament paces in the final 24 hours prior to its semifinal game against No. 1 seed Princeton on Saturday morning. The Big Red went through media day, an open practice at Harvard’s Lavietes Pavilion and a full practice at Northeastern’s Solomon Court.

NOTES

  • After a morning team breakfast, the Big Red watched scouting film of its Saturday opponent, the league champion Tigers.
  • A short bus ride to Harvard led to its open practice, but not before a press conference with Big Red representatives Kobe Dickson, Dean Noll, Sarju Patel and head coach Brian Earl.
  • A 40-minute open practice included meeting with Saturday’s broadcasting talent for ESPNU, former Ivy League starts Dalen Cuff (Columbia) and Noah Savage (Princeton).
  • Athletic Director Andy Noel, Senior Associate AD Larry Quant, and Big Red alumni JoJo Fallas, Desmond Fleming and Kyle Brown were among those in attendance at the open practice.
  • Among the activities was a halfcourt shooting contest – Chris Cain, Greg Dolan, Jordan Jones and Evan Williams each nailing a shot from center court.
  • The loudest cheers of the day came for a public address announcement for head coach Brian Earl‘s son, Cooper, who turned 7 on Friday.
  • A 45-minute practice/shootaround at Northeastern followed as Cornell’s final preparation for Saturday’s 11 a.m. tip.
