Pandole Wins Collegiate Debut, #8 Men’s Squash Beats Hobart to Improve to 5-0

GENEVA, N.Y. – Jeh Pandole claimed a straight-set victory in his collegiate debut, aiding the No. 8-ranked Cornell men’s squash team to a 9-0 victory over No. 24-ranked Hobart on Wednesday evening at the Smith Squash Center.

Eight Cornell players posted straight-set victories, aiding the Big Red (5-0) to its best start since the 2012-13 season as the program heads into its month-long break from competition.

Pandole, who was competing at the No. 9 spot on Cornell’s ladder, coasted in the first set over Hobart’s James Mazzarelli, 11-5, before playing a marathon of a second set and claiming the 16-14 victory. The freshman ensured the straight-set victory with an 11-8 win in the third set.

Tanay Punjabi dropped just eight points in his straight-set victory over Sayf Elhawary in a match at the No. 7 spot.

Veer Chotrani (No. 1), Aaron Liang (No. 2), Arnaav Sareen (No. 3), Humza Khan (No. 5), Nick Robinson (No. 6), Punjabi, Shreemann Raghavan (No. 8), and Pandole, were those who won in three sets.

Spencer Yager won the first two sets before Joey Raskin Lantos forced a fourth set with an 11-8 victory. Yager prevented a fifth set from being played, posting an 11-8 win.

Looking Ahead
