Five Longhorns named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Men’s and Women’s At-Large teams

AUSTIN, Texas — Five University of Texas student-athletes have been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team for at-large sports, the organization announced this week.

CoSIDA members voted Swimming and Diving’s Jake Foster and Drew Kibler and Golf’s Cole Hammer to the District 7 first team in the Men’s At-Large division and Rowing’s Kaitlin Knifton and Golf’s Sara Kouskova to the District 7 first team in the Women’s At-Large division. All five student-athletes advance to the national ballot for CoSIDA Academic All-America consideration.

The At-Large division includes student-athletes from the following sports: women’s beach volleyball, women’s rowing, women’s bowling, fencing, women’s field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, men’s volleyball, water polo and men’s wrestling. District 7 encompasses NCAA Division I schools in Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas.

Junior Jake Foster carries a 4.0 grade point average in biology. A member of the 2021 NCAA Championship team and 2022 NCAA runner-up team, he is a six-time All-American and three-time honorable mention All-American. Foster is the 2022 Big 12 Men’s Swimming and Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year and a two-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team selection.

Senior Cole Hammer sports a 3.65 GPA in corporate communication. A two-time All-American, he currently ranks No. 10 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR) and was one of five finalists for the 2022 Byron Nelson award, honoring the nation’s top scholar athlete in men’s golf.

Senior Drew Kibler carries a 3.60 GPA in psychology. A member of the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team on the 4×200 free relay, he is a four-time NCAA champion and 21-time All-American. Kibler was a member of the 2021 NCAA Championship team and the 2019 and 2022 NCAA runner-up team. He is a two-time Big 12 Men’s Swimmer of the Year (2021 and 2022) and a 13-time Big 12 champion.

Senior Kaitlin Knifton sports a 3.77 GPA in marketing. A member of the 2021 NCAA Championship team, she stroked the first varsity eight boat to a victory at the 2021 NCAA Championship and has stroked the first varsity eight boat to an undefeated record in both 2021 and 2022. Knifton was a CRCA first-team All-American in 2021 and also was a member of the 2019 NCAA runner-up team. She is a three-time Academic All-Big 12 first-team selection.

Senior Sara Kouskova carries a 3.77 GPA in studio art. A 2021 All-American, she is a two-time All-Big 12 selection (2019 and 2021) and a two-time Big 12 All-Tournament team honoree (2019 and 2022). A 2022 Augusta National Women’s Amateur participant and three-time Czech Amateur Player of the Year, Kouskova won the 2021 WGCA Edith Cummings Munson Award given to the top upperclassman WGCA All-American Scholar and WGCA All-American.
