Men’s Tennis Gets Fall Season Underway at Penn Invitational
ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cornell men’s tennis program is set to open its fall season at the 2021 Penn Invitational this weekend, September 17-19, at the Hamlin and Hecht Tennis Centers in Philadelphia.
Results for the tournament will be posted on the Penn Athletics Website.
Competing for the Big Red will be freshman Adit Sinha, freshman Nathan Mao, sophomore Samuel Paquette, freshman Jack McCarthy, junior Matthew Druyanoff, freshman Tomas Salgado and freshman Maxwell Moadel. It’s a refreshed group of competitors for Cornell since the last time the team took the court.
Cornell’s 2021 recruiting class is its bet since 2011, ranking No. 8 by the Tennis Recruiting Network. A pair of five-star recruits join the Big Red with Sinha ranking as the No. 16 prospect and Mao ranking as the No. 54 prospect in the class of 2025. Moadel and Salgado were each ranked as three-star recruits.
Silviu Tanasoiu, the Director of Intercollegiate Tennis and the Savitt-Weiss Head Coach of Men’s Tennis enters his 11th year at the helm. Tanasoiu has guided the Big Red to a 116-76 record over the course of his career.
